In 2002, I received my Ph.D. degree for a dissertation entitled "Forgiveness: Examining Its consequences." Since then, my research focuses on how people are able to deal with potential threats to their ongoing (romantic) relationships. How do they respond to offenses, how do they deal with the lure of attractive alternatives? To address such questions, I build on socio-cognitive and evolutionary psychological theories, and examine these questions in experimental laboratory settings.
